What you need to set up
- Electricity — your apartment defaults to E.ON but most residents switch to a cheaper provider (e.g. Octopus Energy). See Bills & Utilities for step-by-step switching instructions.
- Water — register with Yorkshire Water. You’ll likely need to call them to transfer the account from “urbanbubble” to your name. See Bills & Utilities for full setup details.
- Hot water — billed separately by Homebox (communal boiler supplies the building). Submit meter readings on the 1st of each month.
- Council tax — Sheffield City Council, register and pay online. Banding may take several months to be confirmed — set money aside.
- TV licence — if you watch live TV or use BBC iPlayer
- Contents insurance — recommended (landlord’s policy doesn’t cover your belongings)
- Residents portal — log in (login details provided after move-in)
For detailed setup guides on electricity, water, council tax, and hot water, see Bills & Utilities.
Settling-in period
As the apartments are new-build, there may be minor faults that appear during a settling-in period. Report any defects to the team and they’ll be sorted.
Moving out
- Notice period: Two months
- Deposit return: Based on the condition of the property at check-out — deductions may be made for damage beyond fair wear and tear, missing inventory items, unpaid rent, or breach of tenancy obligations
- Decorating: If you’ve painted any walls, return them to the original colour before your end date
- Cleaning: The apartment should be left in good, clean condition
